Name of the piece published by BCC:

“Dolls for Another Day”

When/where was it originally published:

The Ghosts & Scolars Book of Shadows #2, [Sarob Press], 2014

Tell us more about your piece! What is the background of the piece? What led you to write it? What’s your process?

Wrote it for a specific anthology whose theme was sequels and prequels to the ghost stories of M R James. My story was a, more or less, prequel to “The Haunted Doll’s House.” I kept the basic framework of the James story but viewed it from a different angle as well as adding a rationale that was not in the original.

How did you feel when it was first published and how have your thoughts or feelings on the piece changed from then to now?

Happy and still smiling.

Is there a specific message you would like readers to take away from reading this piece?

Don’t poison grandpa, or at least dissuade him from striking sinister deals with sinister people involving your children.

What else would you like to tell readers about your writing? (Doesn’t have to refer only to your BCC piece)

I often write old fashioned ghost stories as well as slam-bam space opera, two genres that usually don’t really mix, though I have on occasion been known to hammer them together.

Where can readers find more of your work? (Website/social media, etc) I have five books up on

Amazon, two novels, two collections and a novella. Stories are also available as podcasts:

Tales to Terrify, Tall Tale TV, Pseudopod, Antipodean SF, etc.
