Blue Remembered - Dan Berick
That wet autumn dirt smell
That crushed brittle leaf smell
That bush-that-just-flowers-at-this-time-of-year smell
That warm water fountain that tasted like pennies
That tangerine pop they don’t make anymore
That stale chocolate taste of old Easter egg candy
That sky that was bluer than any blue sky is
That house down the street where that-girl-down-the-street lived
That cloud that held nothing more fearful than rain
That.
